Update: Mumbai’s Elusive Monsoon of 2011

What happened to Mumbai’s monsoon? It’s already getting to be July and everyone is asking the question. No one can quite figure it out. All that anyone knows is that nature is behaving strangely so far this season. After a gentle, cleansing and refreshing start [photos]  to the Mumbai monsoon of 2011, and one Saturday of drenching downpours [photos], there has not been much action. It has been dry, hot and humid. Even the threat of rain – clouds or drizzle – is weak and seldom appearing.

This is what the season should look like:

A real Mumbai Monsoon (not much of it this year...yet)

And this is what it looks like:

Watch it pour as soon as this post goes live!  At least, Mumbai hopes it does.
